 The first image at the top is showing a mutualistic relationship.


Here’s why:

• The bacteria use H₂S (hydrogen sulfide) and CO₂ (carbon dioxide) from the environment to produce carbon compounds through chemosynthesis.

• These carbon products are then used by the host snail for nutrition.

• In return, the bacteria get a safe environment to live inside the snail.


Since both the snail and the bacteria benefit, this is a classic example of mutualism.
